After being named the team’s special teams player of the year and most outstanding player for the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks this season for his remarkable 2021 campaign, DeVonte Dedmon has officially been named the eastern special teams player of the year. Over the 2021 CFL season, Dedmon accumulated a total 1,960 return yards and returned three kickoff or punts for touchdowns. He also had an additional 171 yards and a touchdown on the offensive side of the football.
He beat out Hamilton’s Nick Cross, Toronto’s Boris Bede and Montreal’s David Cote to be the eastern division’s special teams player of the year and will now go up against the Calgary Stampeders’ Rene Paredes to later be named the CFL’s special teams player of the year on December 10th at the award ceremony in Hamilton, just prior to the 2021 Grey Cup on Sunday December 12th.

Dedmon has also been named a 2021 CFL all-star alongside other Redblacks, Richie Leone and Avery Williams.
