Last season DeVonte Dedmon was by far the most electrifying player across the CFL.
Every time he touched the football there was a chance he could take it all the way. Averaging over 18 yards per touch he won the league’s special teams player of the year, broke records, and cracked an NFL opportunity. Unfortunately the NFL opportunity didn’t work out with the Miami Dolphins, but coming in to Ottawa midway through the 2022 CFL season Dedmon is in the best shape of his life and is extremely motivated to make plays in red and black once again.
It won’t be long until he gets to do so as he is ready to play in Edmonton on Saturday night in the Elks-Redblacks week 12 matchup just a full week after the announcement was made that he’d be back in the CFL.
The Ottawa Redblacks go into the game at 1-8 and are most likely out of the playoffs, however with the CFL’s east division struggling this season they are not mathematically out of playoff contention, meaning that the next 9 games do still matter for the capital’s, Ottawa Redblacks. One player that can very well make things interesting in Ottawa would be DeVonte Dedmon, but don’t be surprised if players like Devonte Williams, Darvin Adams, Ryan Davis and Jaelon Acklin have big games themselves on Saturday bouncing back from an all around disappointing game a week ago against the Elks. On the defensive side of the ball expect to see Lorenzo Mauldin making his weekly presence felt up front but also Alonzo Addae, and Hakeem Bailey could be onto something in the secondary as well as they become more comfortable in the lineup.
Saturday’s game will kickoff at 7:00 eastern. Be sure to tune in and watch Dedmon’s return to the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks.
